Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Monday Week 5 of Ordinary Time Year I - February 8, 2021

MONDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 2021

FIFTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 11

Genesis 1:1-19

Mark 6:53-56

THE WONDERS OF GOD'S CREATION

Have you ever wondered at nature and imagined how they came to be? As children playing at moonlight, we watched the moon and stars in the night and wondered what they truly are. Under the rain, we look up to see where they come from, and the sound of thunder and lightning evoked the fear of God in man. These makes the message of the creative power of God to sink deeply into the mind.

As we grow older and learn some scientific speculations and explanations about nature, we begin to see things as normal, drawing attention to ourselves and forgetting the power of God. The song "All things bright and beautiful" reminds us that everything in the world, including us, came to be by the power of God. All powers and authority belongs to God, he alone can bring into being and take out of existence. No matter how familiar we have become with God and all that he has created, we should not lose our childlike fear of God and his power.

May almighty God help us to always be conscious of his power around us. Amen.
