THEME: HAPPY ARE YOUR EYES FOR THEY HAVE SEEN THIS DAY

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". As we enter the first day of the last month of this year 2020,  I want to reflect with us on the theme: " Happy are your Eyes for they have seen this day". Beloved, I wish to begin my homily this morning by congratulating us all for seeing the first day of December 2020. I guess many of us thought that we were not going to make it to this time of the year, considering the various events that were recorded this year beginning with the dreadful Corona virus and the eventual lockdown that followed it, the 8months and still counting ASUU strike, the hype of almost all food items, the incessant increment of fuel price, the economic inflation, the End Sars protest, kidnapping and bangditry attacks, routine road crashes and numerous death from several causes. I believe you will agree with me that having survived all these death traps, God is worthy of our praise now and always.

Beloved, in the Gospel reading of today, Jesus told his disciples how blessed and privileged they were for seeing the Messiah, a privilege which was not gifted to more holy and mighty prophets than themselves. Hear me child of God, that you are among the living today is a great privilege indeed. Guess you will agree with me that there were more holy, richer, intelligent, careful and important personalities than yourself, whose eyes have been closed by the cold hands of death. But through the grace of God, here we are alive, safe, free and healthy. Now beloved, the questions that should occupy our minds as each day breaks are: Why did God allow me to see today? Why am I still alive? What is God's plans for my life? How best can I show gratitude to God for the gift of this day?

Listen to me child of God, I know that even at this moment, so many fearful questions have filled up our minds such as: will I see the end of this year? will I be able to survive the looming hardship? How can I stay safe and keep clear from evil men and blood sucking agents of the underworld? Beloved, I want you to take courage, and read the ending part of the first reading of today. If God could could make a calf and lion to lie together, if he could make the cow and bear to become friends, if he could allow the little child to put his hands on the cobra's mouth unharmed, then I believe that He can see you through whatever obstacles that may come your way in the remainder days of this years.

Do not be afraid for you will be remembered in my priestly prayers throughout this month. God bless you

#End Sars,

#End Political Oppression

#End Bad Governance

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8)

LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, remove every doubt, fear, and proud thought which would hinder me from receiving your word and help me to serve you more faithfully...Amen

HAPPY NEW MONTH BELOVED FRIENDS

Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Tuesday Week 1 of Advent - December 1, 2020

 TUESDAY 1ST OF DECEMBER 2020

FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

Isaiah 11:1-10

Luke 10:21-24

THERE WILL BE GREAT PEACE WHEN HE COMES

There are a lot of things that  trouble us daily in our lives. The world seems to be in chaos and everyone seem to be very angry. I was in the popular ever busy upper iweka avenue in Anambra state today, and everyone in the place seem to be in a haste. It looked like a normal thing to see two keke drivers fighting, motorists shouting at one another, people crying over lost materials along the pedestrian bridge, people trying to out smart one another. One can only imagine how the scenario is at this moment of preparation for the festive season.

In the first reading of today, the prophet Isaiah paints a world that we all would like to see. That world will be of serenity, peace, justice, coexistence and love of one another. A world where the snake and human being will be friends, lion and ox will be playing together. A world where we will no longer be afraid to sleep at night or afraid to travel because of bandits. A world where everyone will be comfortable with whatever they have. This according to him, will happen with the coming of the messiah from the stock of David. On that day according to the psalmist, justice shall flourish and there will be great peace. Let us therefore work towards that peace, and get it in fullness at the coming of Christ. God help us. Amen.
