Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Wednesday Week 2 of Advent - December 9, 2020

WEDNESDAY 2ND WEEK OF ADVENT

Isaiah 40:25-31

Matthew 11:28-30

JESUS IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR BURDENS AWAY

As human beings, a lot of things weigh us down and hinder our happiness. As we approach ever closer the commemoration of the coming of our saviour, we are encouraged to keep faith in God, because our burdens will be made light.

In the first reading, the prophet Isaiah tells us that with the coming of the saviour, those who have been weary and powerless will be strengthened. Our strength will be renewed and we shall not be weary again.  We shall run faster than before and work harder and better than before.

In the gospel reading, Jesus calls on all those who are tired with the various struggles of life to bring them to him. Any troubling situation will surely be light in burden when we trust Jesus to intervene in our lives. We pray for God's abiding presence in our lives to lighten our load. God help us. Amen.
