WAIT FOR THE LORD AND DO NOT LOSE FAITH
There are times in our lives when we behave like John the Baptist in the gospel reading of today. We expect God to act in a particular way and when he does not, we begin to doubt if he really cares about us. John was sent to prepare the way for Jesus, but he was not sure how Jesus would carry out his work. He may have also expected Jesus to come as a warrior to liberate the people of Israel from the Romans. John may not have doubted if Jesus was the son of God, but was obviously confused that Jesus had not started war against the Romans, but was preaching about love, mercy and forgiveness and was working miracles.
We also experience some moments in our lives when we have prayed and hoped in God and he seems to be delaying in answering us or not responding the way we expect. As Jesus tells us today, he is the one we are expecting, he is the way we have prayed to, he is the one we have hoped and trusted. We should keep our hope and faith in him and he will put things in place in his own way. God help us not to lose faith. Amen.
