Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Friday Week 31 Ordinary time - November 6, 2020
FRIDAY 31ST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II
Philippians 3:17-4:1, Luke 16:1-8
THE DAY OF RECONING IS COMING
We commit a lot of evils everyday, thinking that no one knows about them. We often forget that we are mere stewards of our lives and the things we do. The master and owner of our lives will soon come and ask for an account of what we have been doing, what are we going to show for him?
The gospel reading of today paints a very clear picture of what is happening in our political world. Our politicians continue to mismanage and squander what has been entrusted to them, and knowing that they cannot do anything when they are out of office like the steward of today, they continue to create avenues and structures to keep their interest intact. Human beings seem to be very astute when dealing with the things of the world, but are reluctant in engaging spiritual activities.
This is why st Paul tells us today in the first reading that those who behave as enemies of the cross and proclaim proudly what they ought to be ashamed of, are destined to be lost. May we not be lost. Amen.
