Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Thursday Week 31 Ordinary time - November 5, 2020

THURSDAY 31ST WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II Philippians 3:3-8, Luke 15:1-10 GOD IS NOT HAPPY TO PUNISH US When we were much younger, we used to think that our parents enjoy it when they beat us. We think that they are always waiting for us to make mistakes so that they will punish us. It is definitely not so, no parent would enjoy beating their children. As adults, some of us may have the opinion that God is always waiting for us to sin so that he will punish us. The gospel reading of today makes us to understand that God does not rejoice when we sin, he is not happy when people die in sin and go to hell, he wants us to repent of our sins and be saved. The Angels in heaven rejoice when a sinner repents. God is constantly searching for lost souls to redeem them, and he will not stop until he has found us repentant. God help us. Amen.
